  • How is the Fiat Multair engine, American? Especially when you consider it an evolution of other Fiat engines like the T-JET and FIRE. The biggest difference being the Multiair has variable valve timing while the T-JET doesn’t. The FIRE engine probably dates back to early Fiat Uno and Fiat Panda’s

  • I drove several FIAT models, for around three hundred thousand kilometers total, never got fire in the engine or any serious problem with the engine at all. Either you got terrible roads or treated it very roughly.

  • I drove a 500 as a rental for about 500 miles a few years back. Loved it. Peppy. Liked the driving characteristics. But the rear seats didn't fold flat which is a major design flaw, since the back seats aren't really usable, so it'd likely become more like a taller CRX if it was my daily driver.

  • FIAT (Fuck It Again Tony), worst car in the planet in both looks and quality. FIat 500 MSRP price was 10x more than its actual value. which is almost no value

  • I managed to score a nice set of fiat 500 wheels and tires in the junkyard for $250. I dont have a fiat my friend does so I gave them to him, he's always going through fiat tires so he'll get some use out of them. Theres actually a slightly bigger size you can get that's more standard and cheaper so I'm trying to get him to slowly accumulate the bigger tires as his wear/blowout

  • Fiat 500 and Panda 169 onwards chew the bottom arms. Basic cars have small rubber bushes that shred on faster models. Performance models have bigger bushes. The engine is the Fiat “FIRE” goes back to 1980s. It’s evolved constantly but by 2020 due for upgrade. Used Abarth fuel pump under £100 in U.K. Check with Shop 4 Parts for new prices. They look good on peppier pot steel wheels much less money than alloys and they can handle pot holes. Braided brake lines work well. Put a 600mm line each side at the back to replace a steel and two rubbers. Fronts can be standard for normal pedal feel or braided for that instant pedal feel. Steering is electric. Don’t get conned into replacing because reconditioned are around £200. The prices quoted for the Fiat / Abarth 500 parts are off the scale. Only buy direct OEM when there is no other option. The original parts makers like LuK and Magetti Marelli sell OEM spec parts. Check eBay.co.uk and UK parts factors for what we pay over here.

  • There is NO better way to sum up FIAT than the $300 shift knob. NONE. ! A Ferrari with a $300 shift knob. OK. I get it. But a freak'in pop can FIAT ? LOL. ! I had a FIAT bake in the day. And i would NEVER ...EVER ... leave the house without a Full tool kit in the trunk. Similar to not going out on the Ocean in a row boat without a life preserver. It was such a piece of junk that it actually had charm. Parts would literally just fall off. And not at high speed ( over 25 mph ) but while driving to 7-11 you would hear metal clanging down the road and i would simply pull over and go retrieve whatever it was. So when i saw FIAT making its US Debut again. I BUSTED UP laughing.

  • It is not an "american engine". It is the FIRE 1.4 Multiair engine used in Europe by Alfa Romeo, for example in Mito and Giulietta models. For the CV joint, driveshafts, boot kits, ... in Europe You can buy almost every part as single part or kit, for example You need a tripod and You can buy only that. Can be original, equivalent to original or even superior to original, that is because European Union law impose manufacturers to give free access to other companies to parts design. For example in an UK spare parts shop www.euspares.co.uk/parts-catalog/wheel-drive/abarth/500-595
